Srisailam trip details
Hello, Anltravels here! I'm excited to share with you my trip details to Srisailam, one of the most sacred places in India. Srisailam is located in the state of Andhra Pradesh, and is home to the famous Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Here are some highlights of my journey:
- I took a bus from Hyderabad to Srisailam, which took about 6 hours. The road was scenic and smooth, and I enjoyed the views of the Nallamala forest and the Krishna river along the way.
- I stayed at a budget hotel near the temple complex, which was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful, and they arranged a guide for me to visit the temple and other attractions.
- The Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple is a magnificent structure, built in the Dravidian style of architecture. It has four gopurams (towers) and a huge courtyard. The main shrine houses the lingam of Lord Shiva, which is adorned with flowers and jewels. The temple also has shrines for Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha, Lord Kartikeya, and other deities.
- I also visited the Sakshi Ganapati Temple, which is located about 3 km from the main temple. It is believed that Lord Ganesha keeps a record of all the pilgrims who visit Srisailam, and grants them his blessings. The temple has a large idol of Lord Ganesha, with an elephant trunk on both sides.
- Another attraction that I enjoyed was the Srisailam Dam, which is built across the Krishna river. It is one of the largest dams in India, and has a hydroelectric power station. The dam offers a spectacular view of the river and the hills, and has a ropeway that takes visitors to the other side.
- I also went for a boat ride on the river, which was a relaxing and refreshing experience. I saw some wildlife like monkeys, deer, and crocodiles along the banks. The boat also stopped at a small island, where there was a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
- I spent two days in Srisailam, and felt spiritually enriched by the end of it. It was a memorable trip that I will cherish forever.
